I'M IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
Connor got to be the STAR STUDENT for the entire week at school and got to finish his week off with his first "real" school project. He was instructed to decorate a poster that was personalized all about him. He did an incredible job on it and Mommy and Daddy were so proud of him. We did have to step in and help him just a little bit with some placement and spelling but overall he did most of it himself. ! WAY TO GO, CONNOR!
Connor had to list three things in three different categories and they looked like this:
I can: swim in a pool
ice skate
do ten push ups
My Favorite:
color: orange
food: tacos
story: My big truck book
tv show: flyers games(his favorite shows really are the Bernstein bears but he didn't want the other kids to make fun of him) He really is starting to care what others think and doesn't want anyone to laugh at him, so I helped him with this answer.
animal: Cheetah
My dislikes:
Mayonnaise
Stink bugs
The penguins hockey team(mmmm....wonder who puts this in Connor's brain) Possibly, Uncle Andy!
He had to include a picture of him as a baby, him now and a picture of his family. All other pictures and drawings could just be things that are important to him. Of course his poster consisted of a ton of sports, cars, and a very important picture of his Nana, who he still talks about all the time and misses very much!
Connor is going to be 6 years old this Monday, February 6, 2012 and We find it hard to believe how fast the years have gone by and what a big boy he has become. He is always thinking of others before himself especially when someone tries to give him a prize, he always asks for one for his sisters too. He is totally into trying to read and do well in school. He just recently got his second marking period report card and overall is doing fantastic in Kindergarten. He got a 9/10 on his knowledge of site words and the only thing that he didn't score great in was knowing the spelling of his numbers and the spelling of some of his colors. He missed the colors brown, tan, black, blue and gray. He also only recongnized the words zero and one out of ten, so we will be working on that, too. He is developing in learning to write top to bottom and left to right and still improving on writting all of his upper and lower case letters. He did receive one N= needs improvement on Displaying Self Confidence(which is something that we know he struggles with becasue he is constantly worrying about what others think of his work)Sorry Connor, you are just like your Mommy. So I am going to try to praise him more when he does things and try to build his confiedence more.
We love you, Buddy, and are so proud of all of your accomplisments.
We can't wait to celebrate you being six this weekend!
Happy 6th Birthday!
