Smith Playhouse In Fairmont Park

A fun day at Smith Playhouse with the Bradbury's

This is a picture perfect fall day for an outdoor playland at the Smith Playhouse. Mara loves to swing in the baby swing and say whee... the whole time. She and Connor got really cute shirts from Uncle Andy's trip to Ireland so I put them both in their Dublin gear for our outing.
Well you definitely know your little boy is growing up when he doesn't ask to be pushed on the big swings any more. I was totally shocked last week at playgroup and of course didn't have my camera to capture a great milestone for Connor, but I gave him one push and off he went pumping his legs in and out and was for the first time swinging all by himself like a big boy. It was so depressing that for the first time I actually felt like he didn't need me! On the other hand, it is nice because Mara still needs to be pushed and often her swings are not right next to the big kid swings.
The playhouse just installed a brand new section called the Tot Lot and is for all kids ages 5 and under. The kids had such a great time on the spinning thing going around and around. So no worrying about the big kids trampling on your little guys. I love coming here, so clean and such a great place to come for FREE! It is donation only, but there is so much for the kids to do. If they get bored outside they can be entertained by the three floor playhouse inside.

I think the biggest attraction at the playground is the wooden slide that I wrote about a while ago at our cousins birthday party, which is how I found out about this amazing place. I think it actually tops the discovery zone or please touch in my eyes. My kids were just beaming the entire day and didn't want to leave. Alexa just turned two years old and we were supposed to go to the Playhouse for her party, but it was a rainy day and got cancelled, so this was a perfect playdate to get together and give Alexa her gift and to see how fast she is growing. Can't believe she is only two months older than Mara. This just means that my baby isn't such a little baby any more.

We all brought our lunches and had a little picnic on the benches outside the park because you can't eat inside the playground or the playhouse. I'm excited to go back as soon as the leaves start changing to get some great pictures of the kids running around with beautiful scenery in the background.

We are hoping the sun will shine either today or tomorrow so that we can go on a hayride with the kids to the pumpkin patch. So hopefully we will get to that that later today or tomorrow. Connor has been doing pretty good in his bed that we moved into our room to try to get him out of our bed. Although last night he woke up coughing and then couldn't fall back asleep. I tried to lay with him, but impending my 6am wake up call to run, I had to give in to him and let him sleep in our bed. The kids have been really into reading books lately and as of now Connor's favorite book is "Madeline and the big Hat". He wants to read it every single night over and over. As for Mara, she won't go to bed without her "phish" book as she calls it. It is a very cute "my first words" book with a big fish on the cover.

Just another really quick story that I wanted to write down before I forgot was something Connor said the other day. My mom was being chased by a dog on her bike, so she grabbed a stick to try to chase the dog away and while she was pedalling the stick got caught in her spokes and she took a bad fall. We are glad she is okay and are praying that she feels better soon, but we all got a good laugh when Connor asked what happened to Mimi and I told him she fell off her bike, he said " Does Mimi need to borrow my training wheels!" Just needed to get this one down for the record books. I think I could possibly be making some money if I only submitted these things to Parenting magazine. Just like the time when there was an accident on Rt 322 and he wanted to know why we weren't moving. I said there was an accident up ahead and we have to turn around. He said " you mean someone went poopie on the road" I hope you all got as much of a laugh as I did. It is so great how little minds work.
