Our Journey to Duffield's Farm!

IT'S STRAWBERRY TIME...

SO GET OUT THERE...AND PICK YOUR OWN!
only $1.49 lb.

Today we went to pick strawberries with Kim, Brady and Ryan. We were originally going to go to Linvilla, but we decided on Duffield's Farm to save a lot of money. It is a lot of fun at Linvilla going on the hayride and being in a huge field, but lets face it we must be practical in this economy. Kim and I figured we saved about $19 staying in Jersey instead of going to Linvilla. We had such a great time once we finally got there. It just seemed that every road we took ended in some type of detour or construction. I wanted to post this tonight so I didn't forget about the hilarious comment that Connor said on our way to Duffield's. We were on 322 heading towards Glassboro and at the traffic light their was an accident or something that made us turn around and find a different route. So, Connor wanted to know why we were just making a turn around in the middle of the road and I said, "well honey there must have been an accident or something" and he replied, " who had an accident, someone went poopie!" Just so cute, I couldn't help but to laugh out loud, and then he proceeded to say it really smells now, why did someone have to have an accident out here! I really wish I had that recorded. Its amazing to hear what kids have to say and how they relate different words to things they recognize. When we finally got to the farm, the lady(who wasn't super friendly) says to us, you can only pick from here to there and the picking isn't really that great, It will take you a long time to fill up that flat, well we proved her wrong. It did take a little bit, but berries we found and tomorrow we are off to make jam and I am going to make this fantastic dessert that someone at work gave me the recipe to. It is a stawberry pie with homemade whipped cream. I can't wait to taste it again, such a yummy dessert. I am excited to make jam tomorrow and eat more berries, too. Mara and Connor had fun picking or more or less eating the strawberries instead of picking them to take home. Mara was covered entirely in berry juice, her face was almost purple and I guess tomorrow I will find out if she ate the stems or actually bit them off. Connor wasn't as into picking them as much as last year and I think it was because you actually had to dig for good berries.
