Happy New Year 2013
It was so nice to see my Mom and Dad actually up and out of bed. We were trying to have some laughs and fun for our last night to make up for the two weeks of sickness they endured here. Mimi used my favorite blanket as a cough blocker so I for sure had to Lysol that baby to death! But it didn't really matter, what mattered is that they were here with us and enjoying their last night hanging out with all of us. Connor had a fun time staying up a few minutes later and being silly with Poppy.
On New Years Day all the decorations are put away except the lonely Santa hat found behind the couch so Poppy and Connor wanted to show us who could wear it best!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
A NEW YEAR, A NEW RESOLUTION!
A NEW YOU!
My new years resolution consists of doing a 6 week challenge with my tri club consisting of running, biking and swimming. My swims start next Wednesday and I will be swimming one mile per class and hope to add one or two short swims in during the week too. I will be doing a 1/2 ironman over 6 weeks, running a marathon, swimming 7 miles and biking 150 miles. Of course I said I was going to change my diet but unfortunately I love food too much and there are still cookies and popcorn in the house so I will keep enjoying my night time snacks knowing that I will be keeping a strong schedule of my workouts and after the six weeks is up I will be in a good routine to hopefully keep going. My goal is two spin classes a week, two swim days a week and three running days which basically means I need to double up work outs or I will not be having a rest day which is super important in the world of fitness. I think I will be pairing my spin classes with swimming! So I leave you with What will be your challenge for 2013?
I hope yours will be as important to you as mine is to me!

Mara got her nails done for New Years Day and loved all the sparkle and glam.
We had a fun day relaxing, taking down all the Christmas decorations and watching football!
A New Year, A New Start
It’s that time of year again; the autumn leaves vanish, leaving the trees completely bare, and a winter chill seeps through the air. (‘Tis officially the season to break out the puffy coat and scarf as well.) A new year is here once again, and what I love about this annual transition is that a new year equals a new slate — a fresh start.
Many aim to follow through with resolutions, asserting certain goals that call for improvement in the months to come. While that approach certainly can be helpful, I prefer to reflect more on the big picture of the previous year, while looking to let go of past disappointments in order to move forward and into another chapter.
Laura Fenemore’s blog post on Tinybuddha, “Create Solutions, Not Resolutions,” advocates that instead of cultivating resolutions, it is solutions that are practical for inner peace.
As counterintuitive as it sounds, her philosophy suggests that in order to get where we want to go, we must let go of our longing for it to happen. “Achievement is still the goal, but ironically, you only get there by letting go of the need for it,” she said. Her solutions for letting go involve self-love affirmations and daily reminders of acceptance:
“Today, I accept myself just the way I am; today, I accept my body the way it is; today I accept my mind the way it is; today I accept my heart the way it is.”
