I am halfway through my Marathon training!

“I never wanted to be one of those people who looks back and says, “I wonder if . . .” If I have a goal, I’ll go out and set forth to achieve it. When something is your passion, it becomes everything. You put everything into it without hesitation. No questions. No doubts. Nothing to stop you.”
~Kim Fitchen - Cross-country runner and member of three U.S. World relay teams who never seriously ran or competed until she was twenty-five years old

ROCK AND ROLL PHILADELPHIA
13.1 MILES
I can't wait to cross this amazing accomplishment off my bucket list but WOW what a journey this has been and is going to be. I have been running anywhere from 4-5 days a week and sometimes 6 days a week with one day off  and usually spend that day cross training at the gym on the elliptical and lifting or taking advantage of our beautiful fall weather with a short bike ride. It seems that the bike riding days are almost over for this year as the running time has pretty much taken over any free time I have. My normal running week goes a little something like this.... Monday is a rest day, Tuesday 4-5 mile run, Wednesday 7-8 mile run, Thursday 5 mile run... Friday 3 mile and cross train, Saturday long run which is anywhere from 12-20 miles depending on the schedule and this week it is 17 miles but I fell back a week and I think I might only do 16 but we will see how it goes and then Sunday I will cross train by biking or walking usually with the kids in the neighborhood unless I can out for an hour while Meggie is napping.

I did have a great race this past weekend at the Philadelphia Rock and Roll 2012 half marathon with a PR of 7 minutes crossing the finish line at a time of 1:49:46. I couldn't have been happier as my goal was to finish under 1:50 minutes. I definitely know that during the marathon I will not be keeping up speed like that but my goal is a 9:30 minute mile and a finish time of 4 hours vs. a 8:23 minute mile that I did during the half. My sister also ran the race and only 7 months after having her 3rd baby and finished in 2:17 so we were very proud of her too!
