A new Running PR today at the Broad Street Race

You think they just run? One foot in front of the other - meaningless, boring, monotonous? Hah! The annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a declaration of independence, an act of revolution for so many.

Well, a few years ago I would look at race times and say to myself, "yeah, I'll probably always be a 10 minute miler and of course was thrilled to even be running, able to run and happy while doing it" I never have ever imagined that I would be in the place I am in right now, possibly in the best shape of my life, the happiest I have been in my life, and most of all enjoying every stride and breathe I take. Today's race was just another amazing day in the life of a runner. From the anxiety of actually signing up for broad street(a grueling 4.5 hours, to race packet pick up to the morning of getting to the race) to the long hours of training(finding the time to train...many thanks to my AWESOME father in law who sat here endless Thursdays so I could do my long runs with Colleen) and to the anxiety of actually running the race and PR'ing it is just an amazing feeling. I kept trying to make my legs move faster, but they were like bricks by mile 7 and I just fought for every second I could get towards the end of the race and was the happiest person to cross that finish line. Now bring on my two summer triathlons and the Philadelphia rock and roll half marathon and then the "REAL" Challenge is here in November....Philly Marathon Baby!

I am so proud of the runner I have become and I hope only to get stronger and faster in the years to come. Needless to say I  don't think I could have kept this pace much longer, but my goal is to just finish my first marathon in November and then if I decide to PR a future one to do so, but I'm sure the feeling of crossing 26.2 will just be amazing enough even without being crazy about how fast I do it.

The cutest sign in the entire world from my little boy... I was so excited to see that when I got home! He's my sensitive one... with the biggest heart anyone could ever imagine... just like his Mommy, he is always thinking about others before himself. I love you to pieces buddy boy!
My little cheerleaders... Daddy had to work today, but I got a very adorable note on my car seat this morning adorning a picture and all that daddy drew for Mommy to wish me luck and most of all be careful! I love you, honey and thanks for all the support because I know it is a lot of training and sometimes it means that I am running out before the sun comes up but having the support of all of you makes what I do that much better!
Mara and Meggie couldn't wait to route through my race bag for all the goodies. Mara found an orange and Meggie snagged a pretzel and off they went, happy to be eating Mommy's post run fuel.
