Our Little Megs Special Marks

Our Sweet Little Meg has two little hemangiomas on both of her second toes.
A hemangioma is an abnormal buildup of blood vessels in the skin or internal organs.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

About 30% of hemangiomas are present at birth. The rest appear in the first several months of life.
The hemangioma may be:
  • In the top skin layers (capillary hemangioma)
  • Deeper in the skin (cavernous hemangioma)
  • A mixture of both
We noticed them when we were giving her a bath a few weeks ago and at her 2 month well visit they were really small and I asked the Doctor if it was a little rash on her toes or a hemangioma and she said they were definitely hemangiomas and now you can really see them. She doesn't think they will get much bigger than this but she said they were in a good spot if she was going to have them somewhere. My niece, Peyton has had them in about 5 different places since she was born and she had to have laser treatments to remove them because hers are much larger. I am just hoping this is going to be the extent of their growth, but if not we will worry about that later. They don't bother her at all and in fact she loves her little feet and we love them to pieces too.

Meghan is doing so great at holding her head up and is starting to be such an active little baby. She loves to hear her brother and sister talk and laugh and loves to be cuddled, hugged, kissed and loved. She actually said her first word while cooing tonight and Connor said, "mommy, Meghan just talked, she said awe(sounded like ouch)"

Megs is just too adorable to handle!
We love you cuddle bug!

Madison had a LARGE one on her foot when she was born and it's completely gone now. I'm sure Meghan's will disappear naturally too.
