Creamy acres and new Halloween decor

It's definitely fall here in south jersey! Despite record high heat for the first week of October we are still having fun decorating for Halloween and watching the leaves and acorns cover our driveway!
The leaves are changing colors and the kids are learning all about the changing of seasons in school. Connor is now studying science and plant life along with social studies and learning all about different parts of suburban, rural, and urban communities!

Here Mara and Gia are having fun collecting acorns and leaves to make projects out of them later. Something to keep them busy because they are double trouble when in the house!!

Welcome to the McMahon Scary Spider House! Connor found this at creamy acres and we thought it would be fun to start spooking up the house for Halloween! Each year I will start collecting more and more fun things to spook our visitors away!

They started by drawing scary pictures of jack I lanterns on paper and hanging them all over the house!

Mara found an ear of corn at the farm and carried it with her through the corn maze. Halfway through she decided she didn't want to go any further so we found a shortcut and snuck out!!

We took advantage of a great deal and got a bale of hay, 2 corn stalks, 2big mums and a pumpkin for $24!!

We all have our costumes ready and Connor is going to be a hockey player, samara is going to be a purple witch and Meggie is going to be tinker belle!
              Halloween
The streets are dressed in black and Orange,

and a cackles in the air:

between this world and the next

This nighttime thins the Vail.

Are you ghost, goblin, witch

a child in disguise?

all dressed up, now, which is which?

it horrifies the wise!

Do you fright at curse and spell,

or witches on their brooms?

that take flight in darkened skies,

silhouetting on the moon?

Say your line now, "trick or treat!"

here's something from my bowl.

Happy Halloween! to you

witch, gargoyle, ghost and ghoul!

Now it's that time of year to indulge in our favorite fall treat!!

Just a few tid bits that you might not have known about candy corn!!
More reasons to indulge and enjoy!!

4. Candy corn contains less sugar than raisins. Health-conscious parents need not worry too much about candy corn consumption during Halloween, with just 3.6 calories per kernel. Still, it's pure sugar that is sure to generate a sugar buzz faster than most chocolates and candies.

5. Reindeer corn is made from the same recipe. Corn, that is, not actual reindeer; red, green, and white variations are available during Christmas season.

6. Candy corn is made with just eight ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, confectioner's glaze, natural/artificial flavorings (and colors), salt, egg whites, honey glycerin, mineral oil, and carnauba wax.

7. October 30th is National Candy Corn day, and not Halloween as most people assume.

8. Candy corn was once a farmer's treat. The National Confectioner's Association reports that candy corn was popular amongst farmers because of it's 'agrarian look.' It might have helped them get through those hard days on the farm with its fresh sugar supply too.

9. Candy corn is completely fat free. While it's not your best choice for diet foods, indulging in this sugary treat once in a while won't set off the scale. Each cup of candy corn contains just 140 calories, and the rich flavor and texture is from the marshmallow cream and fondant mixture.

While there's no longer a need to stock up on candy corn to enjoy it any time of year, getting a fresh batch during Halloween is a great way to kick off the season. Candy corn cookies, popcorn balls, and other treats give you even more reasons to enjoy this classic!
