Washington, DC Weekend!

We planned a trip yet once again to see the Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC for the 100th Anniversary and another year, another missed Bloom. I even planned our trip according to the world prediction of when it would occur and we missed it by two weeks because Spring decided to come early this year and our warm weather caused the incredible bloom to come early.
This is what it should have looked like when we were there...

but instead it looked like this...
the lonely one patch of cherry blossoms left blooming in the background!
Despite not seeing the full effect of the Cherry Blossoms surrounding the Tidal Basin we still had a great weekend and even sent a few wishes into the Basin!
Connor making his wish at the Tidal Basin...and when we got home he said he made a wish for the Easter Bunny and hopefully his wish comes true!
The kite festival was a very nice sight to see on our journey over to the Carousel for Mara. It was the one request that she had as soon as we arrived. I think she thinks that is the only reason we go to DC. We drive 2 1/2 hours to take a three minute ride on the worlds fastest spinning carousel.
Our big boy is growing up so fast, he wasn't too sure about going on the ride because he thought it was too babyish(sigh), but we convinced him that you are never to old to ride the Carousel. And when he got off he had a great big smile on his face.

The D.C. Kite Festival(next time mommy will check to see what's going on in dc before we head out) Didn't have our kites but it was fun spotting the ones we liked the best and we all agreed that we liked the American flag kite the best!

Gramma met us at Uncle Andy's this time and we first had to make a pit stop at a restaurant to grab lunch before we headed on to the rest of our journey so we stopped at Elephant and Castle and it was Meghan's favorite part of our trip. She experienced her first onion ring and boy was she in heaven!

all filled up and ready for action!

Our next stop was on to see the Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin(Crazy that people are laughing at everyone standing around the one tree left taking photos)As if we have never seen a cherry blossom tree before, but of course there we were right in the middle of the tree snapping away!

Mara insisted on being in the picture with her banana, because we didn't just get done eating a humongous lunch five minutes ago.

Visiting the Jefferson Memorial, It was super windy up there so we got a quick look at the memorial, took some great pictures and headed jumping back down the steps, which was the best part of walking up all those steps.
Connor was having fun with the Camera, too!

Uncle Andy and the kids playing and being goofy together. Just a little dancing and jumping around.
The kids standing next to Mrs. Rossevelt. Mara was so excited to take this picture next to her.

The 2012 McMahon Family Photo Shoot was a success!
thanks to uncle andy our wonderful photographer

and of course what would visiting DC be like if you  didn't stop to see the WHITE HOUSE.
