Spring is here!

Well we have been spoiled over the last two weeks with wonderful spring weather and lots of sunshine. Although this week is going to be a little chillier than the past two, hopefully the sun will still be enough for us to enjoy our spring weather. I have started pruning the yard and most of our flowers have bloomed and already are disappearing. Our Magnolia tree bloomed last week and I wanted to get the kids pictures done in front of it but our weekend was not cooperating, We were extremely busy and the weather was not that great. Connor got to experience his first Spring Concert for his Elementary school last week and before the concert we celebrated our first day of Spring with a trip to Rita's Water Ice. Of course we had to go because how could you pass up free water ice and it was a beautiful day. Mommy was smart and took the girls over right before the schools were getting out and it was a good move because it was starting to get really crowded. We got our three free water ice's and off we went to surprise Connor with his Spring treat. Thank goodness Meghan counted for a free water ice because they wouldn't let you get any extras if you weren't there in line. I shared mine with Meghan and Connor and Mara were glad to have their own.

Connor's first stage appearance at the Annual Spring Concert for South Harrison Elementary
His favorite song to sing was "The sun's gonna Shine"
The kids also did a few other songs called, "Hello" and "Seeds"

I don't know if the video will upload but this was his favorite song at the concert and all the kids were so into it.
"The Sun's Gonna Shine"
The Sun's gonna shine, shine on me,
I can feel it in my bones.
The sun's gonna shine, shine on me,
I can feel it in my bones.
The river is wide, but I can get across
I can feel it in my bones.
The river is wide, but I can get across.
I can feel it in my bones.
The winds of change are blowin' strong
I can feel it in my bones.
The winds of change are blowin' strong.
I can feel it in my bones.

It was a great concert and we were so proud of Connor. He did a fantastic job up there in front of all the audience and was loving every moment of being the star.

Meghan decided that she was going to help me clean the floors. Even though I get help once a month with house cleaning, sometimes there is nothing like the way you do things and I was starting to feel like our floors needed a "Kelly" cleaning so me and Meg set out on our cleaning spree while Mara was at school and got them squeaky clean and ready for Mara and Meg to have a great time after we picked her up from school.
Meghan loves to play babies with Mara and loves it more when Mara pushes her around the house in the stroller.

"Our big Event"
The Family Fun 5K and 1 Miler for South Harrison School to benefit the Playground Fund.
Mommy did her fastest 5K ever finishing in 24:49 and was so proud of herself. I was trying to beat 26 minutes and couldn't believe I actually did it. Go Mommy! It was great to have the kids there too and they had a good time doing the walk and cheering everyone across the finish line. I came in 11th out of about 80 runners and third in my age group. It was a fun morning and now Connor keeps asking me when he can start training for his first 5K. He saw all the older students running the race and wants to do it next year. There were some really fast runners there, One kid came in second place who was only 14 and finished in 21 minutes.

My little Mara was wishing me good luck and giving me kisses so I could start my race.
Here comes Mommy running for the finish line. I thought for sure my time would be around 26 minutes and when I turned the corner and saw the clock still on 24 minutes, I started sprinting to the finish line. It was so exciting to finish in under 25 minutes. I can't imagine the excitement I will feel when I cross that finish line in November at mile 26.2. It is going to be AWESOME!

HAPPY SPRING TO ALL OF YOU AND WE HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS OF SPRING AS MUCH AS WE ARE!
D.C HERE WE COME...just hoping for that one last cherry blossom to still be bloomed!
