A great Florida Vacation

Our trip to Bradenton, Florida
We took a vacation to Bradenton, Fl last week with the Velasco's and although it isn't the true experience of  a kid less vacation it was one of the most relaxing vacations in a long time with the kids. The guys got to spend five days on the golf course and Brenda and I ran almost 30 miles(which means 6 hours of kid free time). In my eyes, it was a great vacation. The kids lived in the hot tub and the pool, played endless hours of wii sports, tossed the football around, went on a 1.5 mile walk with the moms, had a blast two days at the beach, ate lots of ice cream, built a few sand castles, did a little shopping, Connor got his first swatch watch and Mara got her first wrist wallet, Meghan got to do what she loves best(eat), and we didn't have to be all stressed out going out to restaurants because we grilled out everyday lunch and dinner except for one night we went to St. Armands and had fabulous Cuban food at Columbia Restaurant.
Day One: Don and Tony headed out early for first game of golf for the week and Brenda and I had fun games, swimming, bbq'ing, and relaxing by the pool with the kids.

Ring around the Rosie
Ring around the Rosie, Ring around the Rosie.....

Ring around the rosie,
A pocket full of posies,
Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down!

 And we all fall down!
Meghan was excited to play at the kids table and started walking around the house pushing chairs and playing with any toy she saw on the floor. She was very happy to be off the plane and be free!
The girls having a little hot tub fun, while Connor was swimming in the big pool!
Connor and Uncle Tony joined in on some fun. Uncle Tony looking a little chilly, just turned the heaters on and the kids could care less that the water was still chilly. We liked it at 90 degrees!
Day one has come to an end and we are ready for some popcorn and movies!
Day Two
(golf again for the daddy's)
(only a 9 hole today)

Bring on the Bubbles!

Meggie had just as much fun as the big kids kicking her tosies in the hot tub! She was just getting warmed up for the pool.
Meghan enjoying clinging to Mommy. We tried to put her in a float but she wanted no parts of it. She kept saying, "Close to Mommy, like to be close to Mommy"
Our little swimmer, aka My goggle head!
The entire trip he swam with goggles on and was an underwater fish. He loved swimming and asked me if he could join the swim team this summer. He is so excited and was swimming up and down and learning to breathe to the side.
After a few dips in the hot tub with a ton of bubbles the kids realized that maybe they should wear goggles too, Water kept splasing them in the face.
Time for a great cool down with the good old fashioned summer snack.... Freezer Pops. The kids ate one or maybe two everyday of our trip.

MMMM.....DELICIOUS!

Mara, What is your favorite flavor: Red
Everybody else: Blue, so by the end of the week the rest of the kids had to explore other flavors but Mara got to eat her cherry pop!
Day Three
Our first Beach Day
Siesta Key, Sarasota, Florida
Meghan was keeping her stroller close by for her first trip to the beach in Florida.

The gang, Mia, Nina, Connor and Mara
Getting ready for our sandcastle making on the beach.

Don and Tony trying to make a big hole for the kids to play in and digging for water.

 Mara in the sand hole!
Mommy and Daddy on the beach at Siesta  Key!

Day Four
(another day of golf and running)
Our Trip to St. Armands
shopping, walking, and of course eating
What a great town to visit!

The best part of our trip was the restaurant!
Restaurante Columbia
Warm, crusty Cuban bread slathered with butter, the garlicky goodness of "1905" Salad and Spanish bean soup flavored with chewy bits of chorizo - that's Columbia's signature lunch, and they have been dishing it up since 1905. Aromatic dishes on the dinner menu feature traditional favorites of Spain and Cuba, offering tender pork, chicken and rice, fresh fish and shellfish. Entrees are served while still steaming and enhanced by overflowing pitchers of fresh, fruity sangria. Business people bring clients here for lunch and families celebrate milestones within these pretty tiled walls. Enjoy lunch or dinner at this restaurant known for its strong traditions and inimitable style. St. Armands Magazine

Seriously I don't even know why we ordered the kids food because they engourged in sweet butter and I must say the best bread I have ever tasted. Eveyone was served with their own roll and cup of butter and our Mara couldn't be more excited to have butter for dinner along with Mia. They both licked their butter cups clean!

Mommy's favorite part of dinner.... an enjoyable delicious Mojito that the waiter prepared for us in front of our table. It was so good, mmmmmm, made dinner much less stressful.

Don having fun with Meghan playing some tunes with the box of crayons. She was full of giggles.
and Mara found the bread and butter....
 all gone now!
mmm. .... this is pretty tasty, but then again, what don't I like!
Connor getting ready to butter his roll. The kids were so excited that they each got their own bread. It really made them feel special to be just like the grown ups.
and to top off the night the kids enjoyed their dessert from Starbucks. We had to get out of the restaurant because they had been there long enough. So while the guys ordered their bread pudding to go we strolled to Starbucks for some delicious cake pops.
Day Five

Our trip to Siesta Key
Winner of the "Worlds finest, whitest sand," Siesta Key Public Beach extends along a half-mile of the most pristine white sands in the world. The pure quartz, pulverized to a fine powder, has a magical quality. There is no sand quite like Siesta's, anywhere. Even under the burning subtropical sun, it feels cool to the touch. Siesta Key has received many honors for it’s powdery white-sand beaches;
NOW THE NATION'S BEST BEACH !, One Of The Best Walking Beaches in the USA, by USA Today International Edition; and “The Best of the Best Sand” by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.
and of course Meggie aggreed 100%

She could possibly be the cutest beach bum I have ever seen!
You know it is rated top beach in the nation when the beach looks like this and you can spit on your neighbors. It was magical sand and such a gourgeous beach.

Can we try to cooperate and get one good picture....Not a chance, Mom!
We're back

and I can show you a little fun too!

 My divas
Meggie loved to dump the suitcase and climb inside it, just another one of her favorite things in small spaces.
and of course my Handsome little man!
Thank you to the Velasco's for such a great time and a wonderful Vacation!
They couldn't get enough of Meggie and Mommy and Daddy took all the breaks we could get.
Even though she is a screamer she loves you so much!

And My Daddy thinks he is the only one who can play with a box of crayolas....
look who showed him!
I think I got some of the days mixed up but the rest of the days were filled with ice cream and shopping, golfing and most of all relaxing!
