Happy New Year 2011

H A P P N E Y E A R
2011
Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here's to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold." Looking forward to a WONDERFUL new year!
This is how the kids celebrated New Year's Eve...
enjoying yummy cupcakes(well at least icing)

... and then they were all fired up for New Year's Day and a big exciting day of Football and Penn State..despite the loss we still had a fun day.

They really had a great time Singing in the New Year
Mimi and Poppy's last day here in the freezing cold before they are headed back to the bright, warm and sunny world in Punty Gordy! They sure did have a great time spending the Christmas and New Years holiday with everyone and being able to see all the wonderful smiles on their grand children's faces each day. We will definitely miss you both to bunches and Connor is already asking why couldn't Mimi and Poppy just stay one more day. I think my Dad had enough of our crazy heater that just shuts off in the middle of the night and makes our house a frigid 58 degrees. He was never so excited to pull out of our driveway(that is pull out forward instead of sideways...we had a little adventure because I wanted to get some deals on meat the day of the storm...not thinking that we wouldn't be able to get back up the driveway) Thank goodness I have a smart hubby and he got a lot of dirt from the backyard and put it under the tires and we were able to make it up safely. Don wasn't too happy with me. He said, "really, what did you need so badly at shoprite and my response was I wanted lots of meat cut from the butcher and beef stroganoff for dinner" Sometimes you just have to roll your eyes and say, "a happy wife, makes for a happy life"

The wonderful Memories of Christmas, New Years, and all of our Family

Enjoying playing with Uncle Andy and pretending(Pre in tending..Mara's way to say it) to be Reindeer

Celebrating Christmas with Uncle Andy. The kids had a lot of fun having a second Christmas. They both got great gifts and loved unwrapping all over again. Connor and Mara both got new pictures for their rooms and Connor loves his new Hockey Lamp and Mara loves her Hat and Gloves. Thanks Uncle Andy for all the great gifts. I can't wait for Mara to wear her little red dress. She is loving all her princess dress up clothes and Connor wants to wear his soccer shirt everyday.

Our house is usually not that warm because of all the hardwood floors and the freezing windy days that we have been having don't help, so the kids like to sit in our one warm room which happens to be the dining room where the heat blasts out of the vents to get warm. They decided to sit here for a while so they could hold their baby's. Connor was a great big brother holding the real baby Meghan and Mara was a great Mommy's girl holding her baby all wrapped up in Meg's snow suit.

Mimi with her girls. Little Megs and Big Sister Mara eating up their time with Mimi.
Connor giving Uncle Andy a great big hug and lots of smiles from Andy and Don.
Giving my little girl tons of love to let her know she is still my little girl even though she isn't the baby anymore... just so precious.
Mara loves her new dollhouse and is having so much fun Preintending with it. Her favorite thing to say these days is "do you want to play girls with me?"
Mara sets up everything and then has a party with all the fairy princesses while eating pretzel fish and she feeds each doll one and then gives one to herself.

Our little Hockey Star is geared up and ready for action

Santa found an amazing deal at a yard sale this fall and it was the perfect gift under the tree. The pads may be a little big just yet but he will grow in to them and hey they are great for sliding around on the basement floor with and feeling like a real player. I scored Hockey pads and gloves for just 5 bucks. Yeah, Mommy!

Connor was bummed that he was invited to go ice skating for the first time last week, but I was waiting for the heater guy and considered going and having Pop Pop come over to watch the girls and  wait for the heater guy, but when we called Pop Pop he was sick again with another bad cold. So I told Connor I would take him skating one day soon and he is really excited. I think we are definitely going to sign him up for the hockey session next Fall since he is still showing a lot of interest in it. They have a fall session for beginners and a parent and tot learn to skate class as well so either way we will get to see if it is something he really wants to do.
 MEGHAN'S FIRST SMILE
Meghan's very first smile occurred on Wednesday, December 29th when Robin was holding her. I wasn't sure if it was really a true smile, but then she did it again and I knew that she really was smiling that day. She has the cutest little face and the best smile. You just want to pinch those little cheeks and give them a great big SQUEEZE!

We captured all these great smiles while Pop Pop was holding her. She was just so alert and happy. As soon as I would call her name, touch her cheek and say I see that pretty girl, she would give us a great big smile. One great moment in the many moments of a newborn. We just can't get enough of our little Meghan.
