Day at the Beach

Well, unfortunately my brain is not working at high speed and I headed to the beach with the kids for the day because Don was on call and working and can't stand to stay another minute in here with the packing and stress so I decided a beach day would be great, but forgot the beach bag....which meant no beach towels and sorry to report but NO CAMERA EITHER! I was more upset about forgetting the camera then anything else because I figured my cousin wouldn't mind if we used her towels and she didn't. We went to Stone Harbor beach because it is getting harder and harder each year to go to Avalon and do the beach at Nana's. We don't want to bother her with all the showers and chaos of the kids and I know she isn't up for it so we spent the day in Stone Harbor and then stopped by to see Nana for about a half hour on the way home. She was happy to see us, but wasn't up for going out to eat because she wasn't hungry and the crowds are too much. I took the kids to a deli and we had cheese stakes and as Connor put it the best french fries ever and can we go there every time to get fries.

The beach was a blast. My cousins were such a great help and Mara loved my cousin Bobby who she kept calling Poppy all day. If he went to far in the ocean she would start crying and say Poppy come back and she just wanted to hold his hand all day. Connor borrowed my Dad's friend Gary's brother's boogy board who we ran into on the beach and he had fun riding the waves into shore. It was  a very tiring day watching the kids play in the water and run around but so much fun. We played baseball, football just like the big kids in the water and dug in the sand. Of course, Mara ate and drank everyone's snacks and waters, just like a little mucher that she is...Mara the Mooch! They didn't mind and I think my cousins really enjoyed the kids and catching up on old times. Tyler and Kyle are getting so big and Connor kept asking them to play, but it was so hot they just wanted to be in the water all day. I was really surprised how much Mara loved the ocean because she isn't a big fan of the big pool, but she absolutely loved it. They both had so much fun in the water and we can't wait to go back again in August. Chrissy invited us down Aug 2nd to stay overnight and we are going to take her up on the offer and get a two day break from no ac at Don's Dad's house. Thanks to Bob, Midge, Chrissy and Jeff for the great hospitality on Saturday and for making us feel so welcome. We used all their stuff, the double jogger for the beach, beach towels, shovels, toys, etc and even got showers before we headed to Nana's.
