Spontanous DC Weekend

November in Washington D.C.

Mommy, Connor and Mara took a trip to see Uncle Andy's new house in DC and Pop-Pop came along for the ride, too. Daddy was on call this past weekend and we aren't sure what Andy's status is with his job and possible move to Cali so we decided what better time than never to go for a drive. We left Friday morning and enjoyed the peace and quiet(kids sleeping) while taking in all the beautiful scenery of the fall on I95. It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend there in DC. A little windy on Saturday, but it couldn't get any better for Sunday. Not a cloud in the sky. The kids really enjoyed being with their Uncle Andy. His new house has ceiling to floor windows and he is on the 5th floor so amazing views to take in for a 1 and 3 year old. Connor sat by the window watching all the firetrucks, cars, planes, people, dogs, etc and Mara of course was right where she always is, by his side.

Up on the roof top
What great views from the roof. The kids got to see all of the city from up there and can't wait to go it the pool when it gets warm if Andy stays in DC. Connor kept wanting to know when he could go in the pool to swim despite the heavy green cover and no water underneath it.
On Saturday, we were all up before 6am(ugh!), but got the day started with an excellent breakfast at the Downtown Marriott Hotel and then headed out to the National History Museum and to the Air and Space Museum. Connor really liked looking at all the planes and going inside to see what they used to look like. The kids got to make drums and have fun playing at the tot center in the history museum. Connor made a drum out of an old can and some ribbon. At one point he sat on the sidewalk just playing his drum watching all the people smile and giggle at him. If only we had a hat to collect some money for his piggy bank. Pop-Pop and Andy took the kids on the carousel ride before we headed back home for some nap time. After resting, watching football and relaxing we headed to the Metro to go to dinner at Buca(Pop Pops favorite).

DC Photo Shoot, Sunday afternoon walking to see the White House or as the kids say Obama's House, just a stop along the way to watch the ducks and enjoy a warm November day.

One hour later, finally at our destination, the White House!

Wooohooo, My mommy is almost done with taking pictures...
we are pooped and want to go home to see our Daddy!
