Another Great Weekend Visit with Uncle Andy!

Always a fun time playing, watching for airplanes, laughing, running, splashing, just being together with our Uncle Andy!

It's always great to see an email that Uncle Andy is coming for a visit. The kids just light up when they see him. On Saturday, we were invited to go swimming over at Kristen's house and we all know how much Connor is loving the pool these days, but Connor said he didn't want to go because his Uncle Andy was coming and he didn't want to miss him. It was so cute. He really did throw a fit, but we tried to explain to him as best as possible that there were a lot of hours in the day and we would definitely be home in time before Uncle Andy arrived. So we ventured out on another no time to mess around morning and had a great time at the pool with such good friends. Kristen of course was there with her two kids, and Robin was there with her two kids and I was there with my two kids. It is great to see how well the kids get along and play together. Friendships are so special and especially when you see them starting from your own childhood friends. We are trying to convince Kristen to just bite the bullet and come to the OBX with us, but I don't know that they will be able to swing it. We just have so many laughs together that we all want them to be there despite what might have happened last vacation. I keep telling her, that was long ago and times have changed and the kids have grown up, but we all understand, so maybe if not this time, another time. We splashed and played for hours then came home to take a rest before our visitors. I had a busy morning of running 10 miles with my sister and friend Colleen that when I got home from swimming I was totally wiped out and just sat in my anti-gravity chair for about two hours and read. We had a great bbq of chicken and ribs for dinner. The kids played with their Uncle and used all the side walk chalk to make roads and then sat in their little tykes chairs on the road that they built. Too cute!

Connor was so excited that Andy had on the same sneakers as him(a total coincidence) that we had to take pictures of their shoes together.

We played all day yesterday and today. I took about an hour and decided to move all Connor's match box cars into another storage area to make room in the bins for other toys(too many toys, I threw out a trash bag of broken toys and such junk that we didn't need anymore). The cars took up an entire three drawer rolling stackable bin. So, now Don is going to decorate it for him. This is good to keep the cars organized and now they won't break the cloth bins. We must have about 300 cars(not exaggerating either). Today I was in the Nursery at Church and then when I got home, Pop-Pop took us out to Applebee's for lunch.
Of course Pop Pop got to play with his little girl. Nothing more makes him smile so big. He just loves her to pieces.

I came home and made my recipe for tomorrow's moms club recipe exchange. I made strawberry peanut butter bars. YUMMY! As I was cooking, Connor and Mara got the kitchen out of the corner and started playing together. Mara kept putting her gloves on and sticking the strawberries in the oven. She loves to play pretend.

And what fun would baking be if you didn't get to lick the beaters. Any takers for beaters.... Of course Connor and Uncle Andy didn't hesitate, but wait, here comes Mara... Andy lost and Mara got the beater!

As they were playing Connor spotted a Monarch Butterfly on the window and then started talking to it and giving it a name. He held his own little conversation with him until he flew away about 10 minutes later. I couldn't believe the butterfly just sat on the window that long. It was pretty amazing to watch so I snapped a few pics.

The day went by quick, but it was a great visit and we can't wait for our next visit. Andy moves into his new DC house this weekend, so we wish him luck and happiness there and will be there in September to see it. We miss you already and are so glad that you came for the weekend. Hugs and Kisses!
