Fun in the mud and then lesson learned!

SUNDAY JUNE 21, 2009
What a great Father's Day we had this past weekend. Don had to work, but he got home around 12:00 and then we all got to spend the day together. Don was in his glory watching his favorite game on t.v. : GOLF. He looks forward to every Father's Day weekend for the U.S. Open Championship game. So it is nice that it falls on his special weekend. The kids and I played outside all afternoon and when Mara went down for her nap Connor had a blast in the yard outback. He decided to get the hose and make his own lake next to the back door. The mulch which used to look pretty now is a pile of mud/mulch with sidewalk chalk sticking out of it. Can we say, "Classy". We did our best to clean it up, but when you see the pics you can see the mess doesn't matter much when your little boy is having fun. Pop-pop came over and just couldn't get enough of watching his little guy playing in the mud. We had to put it to an end when Mara woke up because we knew that would just be Trouble with a capital "T".

After all the fun, Connor wanted to be a big boy and help his Daddy grill, which he always does, but this time we let him use the stool to actually get up to Daddy's height and now we learned our lesson to never let him get that close to something so hot. He got a third degree burn on his forearm and needless to say the healing process hasn't been fun. Poor Don, just feels awful for letting him up there in the first place, but it was a total accident. Don was finished turning the steaks and Connor went to get off the stool just as Don shut the lid and Connor slipped and his forearm landed on the top of the 400 degree stainless steel grill top. We are doing our best to keep it moist with neosporin and wiping it clean to prevent infection, but nothing makes the hurt go away when you see your kids hurting and in pain. Everyday is getting better and easier for him. Just pray that he heals faster and the pain goes away.
