THURSDAY: We had our first windy and rainy storm since we have been here and God wanted to show us just a little of what can happen when you live in the woods.
Don came home from work and the storm began and he decided to move his car into the garage just in case a branch or leaf would hit it and before he could even get to the steps, Mara started yelling,"Daddy a branch just fell in the driveway" Don took one look out the window and it was no little branch but part of a huge tree fell straight across the driveway in a way that you would not be able to get in or out unless you moved the tree first. So Don and his Dad got to work and hand sawed the tree apart so they could move it out of the way. His car was fine and eventually the tree was out of the driveway, but scary at the least. We are just glad it didn't hit the house and Don is glad it didn't hit the car!
FRIDAY: As soon as Don got home from work we promised Connor that we would take him somewhere of his choice for his first week at school so he picked Olive Garden and we had a good dinner celebration. After dinner we went to Lowe's to purchase some things that we know we will need for our future here.... 1. CHAINSAW 2. LEAF BLOWER...ECONOMY SIZE!
I forgot to add that we went Mum picking earlier in the week and wanted to post those pictures so here they are:
Wow, a tractor is coming!
Connor charging towards the road to see the huge tractor.
Look kids, Stripey the butterfly came to visit us here!
We love Platts Farm Market. We got 10 large mums for just $39 dollars!
After Platts we came home and Mommy and Daddy had a special delivery on the porch....
These absolutely gorgeous bright and beautiful flowers from my boss, Tom, as a welcome to the neighborhood gift. And that was just the start to a bright and sunny beautiful weekend!
SATURDAY: Connor's soccer game, he scored two goals and the team won. We came home and had lunch and then Mara napped, Connor and Mommy went food shopping and Daddy Painted, painted and painted! When Mara woke up I decided to take the kids for a bike ride with the bike trailer and what a mistake that was. What is an 8 month pregnant person thinking trailing two kids in a development that is all hills. We finally made it back and I had to walk the bike and trailer up the driveway because I thought if I pushed one more pedal I would have this baby right there on the road!
SUNDAY: We all went to church together and I had to be there early to Greet, so of course our morning was a little rushed getting out of the house on time. We had a great church service and then after church had lunch and Don began the final process of finishing the living room. The tedious stuff that you never want to do. He had to finish taping and then painted the spots around the wood work, windows and tv. It definitely pays off to use the tape. It may take a little time to tape, but being precise is not an issue in the end. It turned out amazing! Mara napped most of the afternoon and I took Connor to my friend Kathy's house to pick up their toys that have been sitting in her basement since May. Connor was so excited to get all of his Big Ones back. We watched the Eagles win and got to enjoy our new living room together! Here are the results.
Before Painting
and AFTER PAINTING....
SIMPLY AMAZING WHAT A CAN OF PAINT WILL DO...OH AND A GOOD HUSBAND, TOO!
WE LOVE YOU DADDY AND THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR HOME EVEN MORE HOMEY!
I also have to throw a special thank you in there to my cousin Chrissy who gave me the name of the paint. I love this color, Tobacco Road. It does amazing things for crown molding. So thanks Chrissy for your decorating expertise. Can't wait for you to come and see it in person.
A beautiful end to a beautiful weekend!
