Happy Mother's Day to Me!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ME....AND TO ALL THE WONDERFUL MOTHER'S THAT TOUCH MY LIFE AND MY HEART!

Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

My Mother's Day was an absolutely wonderful day. I went to my girlfriend Steph's house Saturday night and we went to Demetri's for dinner and enjoyed a fantastic meal and a glass of wine. If you haven't had the chance to visit any of the Demetri's locations I highly recommend eating there. My favorite is the one on 3rd and Catherine mostly because it is BYOB and they have better pita. Steph and I got to enjoy some much needed girl time. I feel like I haven't seen her in forever. So it was great to get a night away and spend it with such a great friend. We got up very early on Sunday and ran the Race for the Cure. I was so happy with my finish and it is such a great feeling to run for such a wonderful cause. We grabbed a cup of coffee after the race and then I headed home to see my beautiful kids.

The kids got me beautiful roses and amazing chocolate covered strawberries(mmm...my ultimate favorite dessert in the whole world, well tied with bananas foster). I think they were the biggest chocolate strawberries I have ever ate. Super juicy and by far the best chocolate, too. Don got me an anti-gravity chair, which I spent some quality time in reading and enjoying such a beautiful day. Mara enjoyed sitting in it too.
I received my first handmade gift from Connor and it was just so darn cute. He made me a potholder at MOPS with his tiny hand print on it and it is just so special to receive such a wonderful little gift from someone you just can't get enough of. Mara's class put tiny Hershey kiss chocolates in a whisk and it said" whisking you the best mother's day ever", so cute too.

We went to my sister's for a BBQ and indulged in sausage and peppers with a great macaroni salad. It was so nice to have my whole family together. I know that was all my Mom wanted for Mother's Day and it is so good to see her smiling and being with her three kids.

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful Mom, whom I often don't thank enough for all that you have done for me and given me. I am so blessed to have you as my Mom and I thank God everyday for the special relationship and closeness that we share. I love you so very much and am so glad I got to spend another day here with you.
"MOM"
If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.

"Here are all your children in one place,
Enshrined behind some glass within a frame.
A picture's like a word, a sign, a name,
Symbolic of a much more complex grace.
Years of memories lie behind each face,
A wild sea no blessing can contain;
Years and years of love, of joy, of pain,
Of mysteries no heart can hope to trace.
Here are all the objects of your love,
A frozen section cut away from Time,
A summit between dreams and memories,
Which you need only look this way to climb;
An icon for domestic reveries
Through which a thousand answered prayers move."

"HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO MY MOTHER- IN - LAW, WHO I CALL MOM"

THANK YOU!

Some mother-in-laws are possessive;
Their child they still want to own.
My mother-in-law’s love is like sunlight;
On both of us it shone.
Some mother-in-laws put you down;
They think you’re not good enough.
My mother-in-law shows approval,
Affection, and other good stuff.
Some mother-in-laws interfere;
They think that they know best.
My mother-in-law lets us be;
She’s better than the rest.
And so I just want to thank you
For being who you are;
You’ve made everything so easy;
As a mother-in-law, you’re a star!
