So Proud of my Hubby!
Last night we went to Don's final night EVER graduation dinner for his Fellowship in GI. It was a great night with a prior wondering of which was more important the dinner or game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals for the Flyers. I am so glad Don thought it through and decided which of the two was more important and we are sure glad we picked the right one to attend. The poor Flyers lost in game 6 OT to the Chicago BlackHawks and my wonderful Husband was awarded a very prestigious award at the dinner. He was given the award of "Fellow of the Year" 2010! What an amazing accomplishment and we are so proud and excited for him that he was given this great award. Don has been working hard over the past 3 years trying to improve the residency program at UMDNJ and my thoughts are that the residents are really appreciating all the hard work he has done. He really has spent countless hours attending many morning reports, noon conferences and tons of meetings in North Jersey to meet with the head attendings of the university to try to make a difference and make the program the best that it can be. He is really proud of where he is working and absolutely loves his colleagues and most of all loves his job. It was pretty amazing to hear Dr. Chiesa give Don his congratulations on finishing his fellowship because his words were just so try and inspiring. He told everyone that Don is by far the best fellow he has ever trained, the best endoscopist he has ever seen and most of all the greatest personality towards others. He said that you know Don when you meet him, he never holds back and always has a smart remark or funny comment to make something more fun or make people feel at ease. It was something to that extent, but you get the picture that he is thought very highly of at the University and is an amazing Doctor in his field with just amazing bedside manners towards his patients. He got his first schedule for July and starts in his own office on July 6th. He has office hours in the morning and in the afternoon will be rounding on patients in the hospital. He is very excited to start teaching the other fellows how to be the next greatest endoscopist. I think the smile on Don's face just says it all, he was very proud to have been given the title of "Fellow of the Year".
