To put a good end to my weekend, I just got done on the treadmill and logged my miles for the week and then registered online for my third half marathon that I will run in March. I am running at a much faster pace these days, so hopefully I will improve my time even more, but I heard it is a hilly run, so I won't be disappointed if I don't shed off some minutes.
Don didn't have to work this weekend, so it was nice to have him home both days. He got to catch up on some extra sleep and cook a really nice dinner for all of us. Doug and Joan bought him dry aged steaks for Christmas because we all know Don likes all the top of the line things. He made an amazing Kona encrusted seasoning and then cooked them in the frying pan like they do in the steakhouses. They turned out very good, they were cooked better than the steaks we got at ChopHouse a few weeks ago.
As for the kids, Connor is still having a fun time playing with his cars and trucks and is getting very excited for his birthday. His package is in a big box in the kitchen and he keeps asking us if he can be four already so he can see his present. I asked him today what kind of cake he wanted me to make and he said a rainbow cake, so that's what I will make him this weekend. Mara, is definitely showing us the terrible twos, constantly crying if she doesn't get her way and then when she starts crying she in between sobs says, " Mara crying" over and over again. Today she kept trying to steal Connor's cup and of course he didn't let that happen so she kept crying. She has on the bright side been accident free as far as peeing goes and eventually I will get her to go poopie on the potty, but as long as she stays pretty smart she will keep going during her nap while she has on her diaper. I'm not really ready to clean up a big mess if I take away her diapers while she is sleeping. I do feel very proud of her. Today at church everyone was amazed that she is peeing in the potty. Of course everyone thinks she is a lot younger than she is. Must just be the good "Daddy" genes. Never looking a day older.
If you look closely you can see how nice the baseboards look all freshly painted. It looks like I worked really hard at cleaning this weekend. Not an cinch of dust on anything downstairs. And we all know how often we clean the baseboards. It feels so good to come down in the morning and see how nice and clean everything looks.
