Family Beach Day in Avalon!

OUR DAY AT THE BEACH: JULY 18, 2009
Another Great Deal Today: I was on my 10 mile run yesterday morning and stumbling upon a yard sale that I wish I would have been to about 20 minutes earlier, but did manage to get this great beach tent that retails for $79.95 online for just Twenty dollars, Yipee! I wasn't really sure that we would use it on the beach, but figured Connor would like to play with it in the backyard. We took it, and Mara slept on the beach for over an hour. So well worth the $20 and now it will come with us to OBX in a few weeks.
Mara just has a blast in the Ocean. We barely sat down the entire day. She loves to get her feet wet. The water was a little chilly at 67 degrees, but that didn't stop us from having fun. We go to Nana's beach on 11th street which is great because all the kids boogie board and surf right in front of us. It was cool to see all the surfers riding the waves yesterday.
Don built a great hole for the kids to play in today. If we would have been just a little closer we would have had more water in it, but they had fun climbing up and down the steps that Don made and making mud castles too.

Connor wasn't so sure about going in the water at first, but it only took him a few hours to realize how much fun jumping the waves is. He watched Mara for about an hour and then decided to try it himself. This picture just shows how happy and excited he was when he was done playing in the water. Don took him today to Marshall's to buy $10 boogie boards for our next day trip.
