Our Visit With Gramma!

GRAMMA'S VISIT TO NEW JERSEY...

Don's Mom came to visit us for a few days and we packed in as much as any Gramma could possibly handle in just five days. Our trip started with us picking Gramma and Nana up from the airport and without fail the flight was late getting in to Philadelphia. For once if we could just have a flight arrive on time it would be a miracle. It seems that every time Gramma comes to visit there is a problem coming or going. The time they were here for Mara's birth they got stuck in Phila for three hours before leaving which is precious time when you could be spending it seeing your grandkids just a little longer. So anyway we finally got Nana and gramma in the car and to Uncle Ed's at about 9:30 and poor Connor could hardly keep his eyes open but he was determined to meet them at the "auerport".
Saturday was filled with trying to keep Mara happy and keeping her 104 degree temperature at bay. We were planning to do some shopping for her Easter dress, but since she was totally under the weather we waited until Don got home from work and then headed over to Kohl's for a little shopping with Connor and Gramma. Connor had a total melt down because I refuse to let him get something at every store we go to unlike his Daddy and he wasn't having it, so I had to basically drag him out and the only way to please him was to stop at RITA'S WATER ICE...mmmm.. yummy! So the $1.60 didn't seem as bad as spending the $20 on a toy that shot darts out which would probably get pointed at his little sister in the long run. So he settled on birthday cake water ice which was pretty much like eating cake batter. He was happy and that was all that really mattered. We managed to get Mara a beautiful dress and Gramma bought Connor a new pair of Levi's since all his jeans have holes in the knees, go figure for a little boy who likes to play on the floor all day with his toys. Don and I were planning to go to Demetri's for dinner that night, but we just couldn't bare to leave Mara so unhappy so we decided on a make shift Demetri's meal instead and made Tilapia with capers, had pita and hummus(the next day as a snack), Rice and spinach. Nothing ever compares to the tastyness of Demetri's but this came close. Don is an excellent cook and anything he makes is usually excellent.

Sunday we went to our church Easter Egg Hunt and the kids had FOUR THOUSAND, YES I SAID FOUR THOUSAND... EASTER EGGS TO CHOOSE FROM. There were about 300+ kids there so the eggs went pretty quick, but Connor was satisfied with the 15 that he got. We didn't win the IPOD but got lots of candy and stickers. Mara wasn't really in the mood so I think she picked up one egg between crying and wanting to be held. We went to church service and then came home and played outside for a while on bikes, scooters, and ride on toys until we were all played out.

Monday, we went to Houlahan's for a nice lunch and got yummy quiche and French onion soup, we stopped by Home Depot to pick out our bathroom decor and I headed home to get ready for work.

Tuesday was another fun day of a second Egg hunt with the MOMs club and then we were off to music. Connor just has a blast dancing and singing and Gramma had fun watching him in action. We are getting excited for our next visit to Sunny Florida in about a month. Here we come....bring on the sunshine.
